Department of URP
Our Department was founded in 1974 and offers a two-year graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning (MAURP). The Planning Accreditation Board of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning has granted the Certificate of Accreditation (the department’s fifth accreditation certificate), the highest recognition given to graduate planning programs.
The Department also offers several introductory Undergraduate Courses and the college offers a Doctor of Philosophy Degree Program, in which Urban and Regional Planning faculty participate by teaching courses, advising, and serving as chairpersons and members of student doctoral committees. Women and men who wish to continue their professional education at the doctoral level should apply for admission to the College of Design, Construction, and Planning's Doctor of Philosophy program. Admission is highly selective and the program accepts a limited number of students each year.

Accreditation Status of the Institution
The University of Florida’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning first became accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board in 1978, and is accredited today.

Length of Program
The length of the program is 2 years, or 52 semester credits. Further a “B” average is required to complete the MAURP at the University of Florida.
