REPORTING

RELATIONSHIP:

 

The Director of Construction will report to Jeff Hunter, President, and will oversee three Project Managers. 

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

 

 

 

The Director of Construction will be responsible for the oversight and guidance of all construction projects and coordination of on-time, on budget construction for HCSI.  This position is the principal channel of communication to successfully receive and manage issues relating to construction projects between HCSI, contractors, sub-contractors, architects, and others involved in the construction process.  This individual will be a key member of the team to continue the growth goals and plans of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Highlights of specific responsibilities expected of this role include the following:

 

·           Perform a wide range of Project Manager functions for a large number of complex construction projects and management of all  phases of construction including scope development, specifications, estimating and bid procurement, negotiations, project phasing, quality control, safety and accountability, cost control and budget alignment, and schedule management.

 

·           Perform construction administration duties for several concurrent projects; defining the parameter, organizing the teams, developing the plan/schedule, establishing effective cost and control, and maintain leadership and management control of the projects.

 

·           Coordinate and manage the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, including all preconstruction services, making sure the project is completed on time and within budget.

 

·           Able to build a job on paper including estimating the job, breaking down the insurance, writing out each subcontractor’s scope of work, checking and comparing bids as they come in,  writing all work authorizations, and then turning the job over to the superintendent and overseeing the results.

 

·           Review all design documents to minimize delays and assure construction can be done economically and in the manner shown on the drawings.

 

EXPERIENCE/

SKILLS:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To perform effectively in this position, this person will need to have the following knowledge, skill, and/or ability: 

 

·           Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in construction management, including expertise in construction supervision, design coordination, and budget management.

 

·           Experience in pre-construction duties, cost control, and possess a thorough understanding of architectural design and structural engineering methods, and building code requirements.

 

·           Knowledge in estimating, scheduling, blueprint reading, construction equipment, technology, and methodology.

 

·           Knowledge of principles of project management for building construction; theory, principles, and practices of value/design engineering and architecture related to design and construction of buildings; and fundamentals of electrical and structural engineering.

 

·           Possess an extensive understanding of construction standards and practices, as well as comprehensive understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.

 

·           Possess excellent computer skills including estimating and scheduling software (Onscreen, Dirtworks, Bidmail, Quest or MC2), as well as Microsoft Office applications.

EDUCATION:

An undergraduate degree is required.  An emphasis in Construction Management is highly desirable.

COMPENSATION:

 

 

 

A competitive compensation package will be designed for the final candidate in order to attract individuals of the highest caliber.  It will consist of an annual six figure base salary, bonus, automobile, and executive benefits.
